Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

A message from Shelford Parish Council

Following yesterday's announcement on the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II all our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family at this time.

We are sure that many of you are feeling a sense of loss at this time, greater than some of us imagined, given the ever-present steadfastness of Her Majesty over the past 70 years, and for many of us she has been a constant thoughout our entire lifetimes. At times like this we see people and communities come together in mourning and support for one another, and I'm sure the same will be true in our village over this period of official mourning.

A book of condolence has been opened in Shelford Church, and the Church will be open at the following times for those wishing to sign it and pay their respects:

Friday 9th

    - 10am to 12pm, and 2pm to 4pm

Saturday 10th thru Friday 16th

    - 10am to 12pm, 2pm to 4pm, and 6pm to 7pm

A National Condolence Online Book is also available to sign at www.royal.uk

If you are unable to attend the Church but would like to add your respects to the book of condolence, please email your message to beverley.bingham@shelford.parish.email and it will transcribed into the book for you.

As a mark of respect the Union Flag has been lowered to half-mast at the Church, and people are also invited to lay any flowers they wish to on the grass area to the right of the Church porch.

During this period of mourning we will be reflecting on the Queen’s tremendous life of service to us here in the UK and across the Commonwealth.
